Rosetta, truly a flower of love in my life. She is my sister. My sister and I have been very close all our lives. We grew up, had families, and now live miles apart. We have never let the distance separate us.
My dear sister has been very sick for about a year. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Her prognosis isn't very good. She suffers but she is a soldier of life. I would do anything for her and I go see her as often as possible. In a world where pain exists, I try to hold onto all we've been blessed with. I couldn't have asked for a better sister. Now, I ask God to help us. Prayer comforts me and my Faith strengthens me. I pray for God to fill me with love as I focus on being an angel here on earth. I was inspired to write a poem to her. It is about us. We have a picture of us when we were small. The picture is larger than life to us because it reminds us of the bond we have. With love, I want to spread my wings within and give this to Rosetta. And in her honor, share it with all sisters who are visible angels.
A Portrait of Faith
We are two little girls sitting on a bench, We learned how to climb a white picket fence; We used to pick flowers and catch lightning bugs, We are good for a laugh and know how to hug; One of us played with dolls and the other climbed trees, We wore fancy dresses and still skin our knees; With pony tails and blond hair - often pretty in pink, We have love for our family, much more than you think; We make fudge and cookies and stay up all night, When one of us cries, the other makes it right; Life isn't so easy, it's better with two, Mom calls us her two little girls in blue; Now we hug many people with open arms that stretch, Our hearts stay together, never leaving the bench; We have this blessing, we are grateful and know, being together adds to our lives, it helps us to grow; We give truth to each other, our personalities have flair, We are compassionate women and can show you we care; Being sisters and friends, we compare what we view, And resemble each other when we're giving to you; The ability to express our love is what makes us safe, Our picture on the bench is like a portrait of faith; Skipping through life hand in hand we will never be alone, Cherishing our lives together, making our bench a throne; We know each others feelings, we can read each others mind, The bond that's between us is now and forever in time; In this window of life as we occupy space, We can look in our souls and see each others face; To us, it's divine beauty in two little spirits, born, The connections miraculous, it has no shape or form; When the gates of heaven open, we will walk along the fence, Then be two little angels sitting on the bench.
